Yes, what you heard is right! Marketing will help you.
Are you not successful in your business?
Are you bored of your existing job?
Do you want to work as a freelancer?
Do you want to start a new business?
If your answer is yes for any of the above questions. Then this article is for you to provide a little knowledge on how digital marketing will help you.
You know that marketing is essential for every business. But do you know that it is also helpful for all those who want to grow in their career?
First, let us understand,
What is Marketing?
If you think marketing is something which is done by the companies as the last step in order to increase their sales then you are wrong!
- Marketing is something which starts with what the customer wants and ends with satisfaction of those wants.
- It is sending the right message, to the right person, at the right time.
- And it is not just about selling. It is also about keeping an existing customer happy by communicating with them so that they remain a customer for life.
- The purpose of marketing is to build a brand and capture a position in the minds of the customers.
Digital marketing Vs traditional marketing
While traditional marketing uses traditional media like magazines and newspapers, digital marketing uses digital media, such as social media or websites.
Of course traditional marketing doesn’t mean it’s old fashioned. Traditional marketing still plays an important role. If the product is generic with a very wide targeting – TV ads can reach millions at a low cost.
However impactful traditional marketing is, we can’t forget that we are well and truly living in the internet age.
Here are five advantages of digital marketing over traditional marketing
- More engaging.
- Cost effective
- Wider reach
- Easy to measure and adjust.
Now you may ask me ” Ok, I’ve understood that marketing is important, but why is it for me if I’m not a business person?”
If you possess some skill and you don’t showcase it to others. How will they know and how can you improve that skill and grow?
Even in an interview a person who sells himself best will be hired.
If you are a working professional, bored of your job, don’t want to continue it and you’re being stuck in order to earn. Then why can’t you monetize your interest?
For example, if you are a great cook and you love cooking. How will you feel when someone tastes your recipe and appreciates you? You feel happy. But here you might be limiting yourself to your friends and family. What if the stranger appreciates you? Your happiness will be doubled and it’s an amazing feeling right!!
Here comes the role of marketing. Marketing helps you to show your talent to the world. Gradually that talent can bring you income and when your income increases you can quit from your boring job. Even if you don’t have a plan for doing business today. By the response you are getting you may add some new ideas to your existing passion and who knows it may turn out to be a wonderful platform tomorrow where the world recognizes you.
“Okay, but what if I don’t have any skill?”
This might be the common question for many of us. If you try to find out yourself you will be finding something. Still if you think you are good at nothing, then think about your interest. You might be interested in any topic and have some knowledge about it. Pick up that, Learn and enhance.
This area of your interest and talent is called “Niche” and this will help you grow.
How? Is there any method to make this happen?
Yes!! You should create your personal brand.
The power of personal branding is well explained by Digital Deepak. He says that
- The best known will always beat the best
- People want to hear from people, not from brands.
- Elon Musk has a bigger following than SpaceX and Tesla
- A personal brand becomes an influencer and a brand ambassador for the companies that they run
The evolution of a personal brand
Learn: Everything starts with learning. Learning should be a continuous process. Always be ready to learn new and thus enhance your skills.
Work: Learning by doing is the best method to gain something. So always try to work on implementing what you have learnt. Implementing it in the real world will give you better understanding. It may be through your own project or through a job or freelancing.
Blog: Now share the knowledge of what you have learned in the form of blog posts. You understand something better when you explain it to others. Slowly you will also start building your personal brand.
Consult: As you have learned something, worked on it, faced the problems and found the solutions in order to become better. Now you will have the ability to consult others. Provide solutions to your clients through consulting instead of working under them.
Mentor: Now that you have grown your personal brand. You can mentor others who want to become like you. Mentoring will help you scale your understanding to a whole new level.
Startup: Starting a business is not easy. This may take a lot of time. It may be difficult for the one who directly starts business with little knowledge and faces difficulties later. But you are not like that. You have started your journey with a step by step process. You didn’t fly directly. You have your brand, you have experienced all the problems and found solutions. You also helped others. You have an understanding about the market. So, start a step to build your startup to provide your own product or service to the needy.
“Well!! But how will digital marketing help me in gaining my personal brand?”
There is a framework which is given by Digital Deepak.
The CATT marketing funnel
Wealth = n^ CATT
n (Niche): Your journey starts with this. Niche should be something which combines your talent, passion and has a market place. Take time to find your niche. If you are confused, do some research, go through blogs and videos on how to select your perfect niche.
C ( Content): It is the most important one. Content is the key element in order to exhibit yourself. You can bring out your ideas and learnings in the form of content. Create useful content in order to attract people from your niche. It may be in the form of blogs, videos, lead magnets, live webinars etc.
A (Attention): Now drive attention to your content using digital marketing methods.
T( Trust): A person cannot trust someone or something at the first instance. So build trust in your audience through your content. You can do that by email marketing, retargeting etc.
T (Transactions): When the trust is built it is easy to make them do transactions. So now you convert your leads into customers of your products or services.
Integrated Digital Marketing Framework
Most of the marketers use either paid ads or email marketing or content marketing in order to get traffic. But using only one media may not be a good idea. To get the best output it has to be the combination of all the media. This is where integrated digital marketing will help you out.
Here “content is king”. Without content you can do nothing. So there should be a proper content through which you can target an audience. It can be in the form of an image or blog or a video.
Let’s see how this framework works…
Let us think that you have invested in paid ads, now through the paid ads you will get visitors to your content. With your good content you can get the subscribers and their mail IDs. Now whenever you create a new content you send the information to your email list. The people who received your mail may go through your content and if they find it interesting they may also share it with them through social media platforms. Thus the no. of visitors to your site increases and a kind of relation and trust is built on you. Finally you can trigger them through sales pitch and convert your visitors into your customers. Is this network interesting? Of Course it is right!!
So, why are you waiting?
